If you are driving someone else's car and you are in an accident caused by another, you may make a claim for all of your damages against that other driver. You may also make a claim for immediate payment of your medical bills up to the amount of coverage under the medical payments coverage of the owner of the car you were driving, under your own insurance policy, or under any other insurance policy of a relative with whom you live. For damages to the car, however, the owner of the car must file his or her own claim against the other driver.

If you are driving someone else's car and have an accident with an uninsured driver, the uninsured motorist coverage of the owner of the car you were driving is usually the primary coverage and your own uninsured motorist coverage is secondary. Notify both your own insurance company and the company that insures the car you were driving.
