The best way to do this is to talk to other clients, read testimonials, and don’t settle on the first lawyer you talk to. If you don’t feel comfortable, look for someone else.
Being honest with your attorney is crucial to your case. Because of attorney-client privilege, anything you say to your attorney will stay between the two of you. If your lawyer reaches out to you, it’s important that you get back to them as soon as possible. If you can’t get them what they need right away, at least call to tell them you got the message and you’re working on it. This will ensure that no one’s time is wasted, and the relationship will be better for it.
